Building in wood for a more sustainable future
Here in Penryn, Cornwall, we build and sell plywood kayaks, traditional wooden dinghies and skin-on-frame kayaks using a canvas skin.
Our approach
We are aiming to build boats with as little plastic as possible, in the traditional way. Some oars and small fixtures may still use plastic, and our plywood kayaks rely on epoxy to hold them together, but we continue to work towards reducing plastic furniture wherever we can.
We’re constantly building new boats, so you can choose from a number of different sizes of kayak or dinghy. We are a very small outfit, but are planning to grow as more people look for a more sustainable way of getting onto the water.
Other watercraft
If you want something other than a kayak, we also have a small plywood lug-rigged dinghy for sale. Her name is Ella. She can be delivered on a road trailer with a launching trolley or collected from Penryn.
Ella is an 8ft multi-chine pram dinghy with a lug rig and a pair of oars. She will also take an outboard motor.
